Open Science - Change the game: Kick-off of the 4th "Freies Wissen" fellow programme

At the kick-off meeting of the Open Science Fellow Programme "Freies Wissen" at Wikimedia office in Berlin, this years' 20 fellows, including our group member Karina, had the chance to get to know programme partners and mentors and start planning their individual open science projects. During keynote talks and workshops, many different topics around Open Science such as open data, documentation, science communication, legal issues and the usage of Wikimedia projects were discussed. In the next 8 months, the fellows are supported in their individual journeys towards opening-up research and broadcast the Open Science spirit to their working environment and the public. Karina is working on an open data-driven reconstruction of global land use change and plans to publish the results in form of interactive maps.
